Tandem vs ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan power, without the contract or setup fee.

ServiceTitan is built for large HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies, and it's priced that way: by quote, per technician, usually with an implementation fee and an annual contract. Tandem gives a small or growing shop dispatch, estimates, payments, memberships and an AI receptionist at a price on the website, live in an afternoon.

Why switch

Where Tandem pulls ahead.

Prices on the website

You can see what Tandem costs before you talk to anyone, and the price covers your team, not each technician.

No lock-in

Month to month or yearly with two months free. If Tandem stops earning its keep, you leave.

Set up in an afternoon

Starter price books for HVAC, plumbing and electrical, imports from spreadsheets, and a welcome guide. No implementation project.

Simple enough for the whole crew

The tech app shows each tech their day, works offline, takes payment and signatures, and builds estimates by voice. Nothing to train for weeks.

The AI does the paperwork

The AI receptionist books jobs from calls and texts; techs dictate estimates; the office asks questions about the business in plain English.

An open API on a published plan

REST, GraphQL, webhooks and a connection for Claude and ChatGPT, on Level, without a partner program.

A leaking water heater, booked in under a minute.

Sample call, recreated with AI voices. Not a real customer or business.

The AI receptionist answers with your business's name, asks what's wrong and where, offers two open times from your schedule, books the visit and texts the confirmation. It's on Level, in the voice you pick.

To be fair

Where ServiceTitan is the better pick.

Our honest takeIf you run 15 or more techs, several locations or a call center, and want inventory and payroll in the same system, ServiceTitan earns its price. If you're a 1 to 15 person shop that wants to stop answering the phone and start getting paid faster, Tandem costs a fraction and you can start today.

  • Big operations. Dozens of techs, a call center, several locations: ServiceTitan is built for that scale.
  • Inventory and purchasing. Truck stock, warehouses and purchase orders. Tandem doesn't track inventory yet.
  • Payroll and call analytics. Configurable payroll, call booking rates and marketing attribution down to the call. Tandem has timesheets, commissions and lead-source reports, and exports to your payroll provider.
  • Add-on depth. Pricebook Pro, Fleet Pro, Contact Center Pro and the rest go further than Tandem's built-in versions.

No contract. Your data leaves with you.

Software should keep you because it works, not because leaving is hard. Here's what Tandem lets you take with you, and what ServiceTitan asks you to sign.

  • No contract, no setup fee. Pay monthly, or yearly with two months free, and cancel any time. The 14-day trial needs no card.
  • Read-only, never locked out. If you cancel, your account stays open to read: you can still sign in, see every customer, job and invoice, and download your exports.
  • Everything as a file. Customers, jobs, estimates, invoices, payments, your team, time entries and equipment as CSV or JSON, in full or just what changed since last time, on Level. The price book and equipment export as CSV on every plan.
  • An open API. REST and GraphQL APIs, signed webhooks and a connection for Claude and ChatGPT (MCP), on Level, so your data can go wherever you need it.
ServiceTitan

Switching from ServiceTitan.

Run both side by side during the trial; nothing is texted or charged until you say so.

  1. Export your customers, price book and job, estimate and invoice history from ServiceTitan (its reports export to Excel) as CSV or Excel files and bring them in under Settings → Import. Every row is checked before anything is saved, duplicates are caught, and nothing is texted or charged.

  2. Connect your own Stripe account for card and bank payments, and QuickBooks Online if you use it.

  3. Invite your team. Techs download the app, sign in and see only their own jobs.

  4. Put a week of real jobs through Tandem alongside your current software. No card is needed during the trial, so you decide with your own numbers.

ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices. Third-party reports in 2026 put it at about $245 to $398 per technician a month, with implementation fees and a 12-month contract. Tandem's prices are on our pricing page, for your whole team, with no setup fee and no contract.

Is ServiceTitan too much for a small business?

Often, yes. ServiceTitan is built for larger HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies, and reviewers regularly mention the cost, the long setup and the training it takes. A shop with fewer than about 15 techs usually gets what it needs from a simpler tool like Tandem.

Does Tandem need a contract?

No. Pay monthly or yearly (two months free) and cancel any time. There's no setup fee, and the 14-day trial doesn't need a card.

Can I bring my data over from ServiceTitan?

Yes, on every plan. Export your customers, price book and history from ServiceTitan as CSV or Excel files and import them under Settings → Import. You see every row before anything is saved, customers you already have are caught, and nothing is sent to your customers.

Or send us the export and we'll do the import for you, for free.

How importing works

Can I try Tandem before I leave ServiceTitan?

Yes. The free trial is 14 days with everything in the plan you pick, and you don't need a card to start. Run both side by side, then subscribe when you're ready; there's no contract and you can cancel any time.
